Frosty, creamy, thick, and naturally sweet! This mango smoothie recipe is so easy and delicious! Perfect for smoothie bowls!

mango smoothie recipe

We are a smoothie-loving household, and this week, I taught t my 10-year-old how to make simple, no-fail smoothies.

Usually, he just dumps a bunch of ingredients into the blender and ends up getting disappointed with the finished taste. So he’ll add more liquid and more fruit until soon he just has a blender full of thick, weird-flavored slush.

Been there, done that.

I like to use a really basic ratio for quick and easy fruit smoothie recipes that consistently produce the most delicious and creamiest smoothies!

It’s simple:

2 cups of sweet frozen fruit + 1  cup of sliced bananas + 1/2 cup pure fruit juice + 1/4 cup of Greek yogurt + 1 cup of ice (depending on if you use fresh or frozen fruit) =  a perfectly creamy and delicious smoothie!

That’s it! I’ve made some of my favorite smoothie recipes with this ratio.

Depending on the fruit you use, you may need to add a sweetener like honey, agave, or sugar. However, I hardly ever do since I usually make my smoothies with sweeter fruits like mangos, pineapples, grapes, and strawberries.

Today, we’re going to use this simple formula to create THE BEST Mango smoothie ever! It actually tastes better than the super expensive mango smoothie we get at our favorite smoothie cafe.

How to make the BEST Mango Smoothie Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • Mango (cut into chunks)- Mango is the dominant flavor. It creates a super creamy texture. You can use frozen or fresh mangoes. I use frozen.
  • Banana (Remove peel and slice)- Bananas add even more creaminess and a natural sweetness. Using a fresh banana will give you the best texture.
  • Pineapple juice– Helps the smoothie blend and adds a tartness to balance out the other flavors. It really gives it a nice tropical flavor.
  • Non-fat Greek Yogurt– Gives the smoothie a slight tang and adds more creaminess.
  • Ice cubes– Gives the smoothie thickness with a frosty texture.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Into a high-powdered blender, add pineapple juice, ice, mango, banana, and yogurt.
  2. Blender until creamy and smooth.
  3. Taste and add sweetener of choice if desired.
  4. Pour into a cup, add a straw, and enjoy!
  5. Store leftovers in the refrigerator or freeze.

A Healthy Snack

I’m sure you can look at the ingredients and see this mango smoothie recipe has a lot of goodness to offer. Mangoes are rich in vitamins A and C. Bananas bring in all that potassium and fiber. Pineapple juice has bromelin, which helps with digestion. And Greek yogurt has gut-loving probiotics.

I love making healthy smoothies to get me through that stretch between dinner and bedtime when I tend to want to snack the most.

Tips for making the BEST Mango Smoothie!

  • Use sweet mangoes and bananas! This is how I avoid needing to add any sweetener to this mango smoothie recipe. You’ll probably need to add a sweetener if your fruits aren’t already sweet.
  • Using frozen mango chunks and a fresh banana creates the best texture.
  • Don’t skip the ice! Although I rarely add ice to smoothies with frozen ingredients, this smoothie is an exception. Adding ice really gives it that amazing, frosty texture which helps balance out all the creaminess. Don’t worry about it getting watered down. It’s plenty sweet!

Kick it up a notch!

What I love about smoothies is that you can really bulk them up and easily switch up the flavor! Here are a few add-in options to try with this mango smoothie recipe.

  • Make it green! Add a handful of spinach or kale to make a nutritious green mango smoothie. Adding a bit of avocado makes it even creamier.
  • Add protein powder. To keep hunger at bay, throw in your favorite protein powder.
  • Try a different yogurt! Use a flavored yogurt to add more sweetness. You could also use coconut yogurt or your favorite dairy-free yogurt if desired.
  • Add some Omega-3! Throw in some chia seeds or flax seeds.
  • Change up the fruit! I always use a banana in my smoothies to ensure proper sweetness and creaminess. However, I love switching up the fruits. Try adding in blueberries for a blueberry smoothie or strawberries for a strawberry banana smoothie.

Common Questions:

  1. Can I replace the pineapple juice? Sure! A good replacement would be orange juice.
  2. How do I make this smoothie thicker? Make sure that you are using frozen mangoes and ice.
  3. Can I add milk to this smoothie? Sure, any milk can be used, even non-dairy milk (almond milk, coconut milk, cashew milk, oat milk)
  4. Is this a smoothie vegan? To make this smoothie vegan, use your favorite plain vegan yogurt.
  5. What fruit blends well with mango? Strawberries, passion fruit and pineapples.
