A fun, laid-back approach to southern cooking… for us modern girls!
Who said you have to look like a Southern grandma in order to cook like one?? Welcome to Divas Can Cook!
If you’re intimidated by Southern, from scratch cooking or perhaps you’re just looking for a few of those old country recipes you grew up on, you’re in the right place honey!!
Heyyyy girl! I’m Monique, the slightly crazy, fun-sized chick that will be personally guiding you (with video included) through all of these down-home southern recipes! I’ve learned a thing or two while attending the prestigious, “Grandma Barb’s Culinary Institute of the South” aka my grandma’s kitchen and I’m so excited to share everything with you! Make yourself at home!
Divas Can Cook started in 2009 as my little happy place hobby that turned itself into a full-blown business when I wasn’t looking. You won’t find a lot of fussiness on this site. I’m a simple girl (despite having Diva in my name ha!) and believe that Southern recipes should remain traditional, in other words, no adding carrots to potato salad! Although I’ll still love you if you do!
This site is chocked full of coveted Southern family recipes, recipes I’ve developed and tweaked to perfection and a few non-traditional ones sprinkled throughout. It is my hope that this site will not only build your kitchen confidence but become a trusted source for tried-and-true Southern recipes for you and your family!
Stick around and you’ll be mastering my southern baked macaroni and cheese that Nate Berkus and Curtis Stone loved and whipping up my candied yams that Jessica Alba shared on snap-chat, in no time!!!
Coming soon, I’ll even be showing you how to lighten up some of these classic Southern dishes like the healthy chicken fried steak I made with Dr. OZ!
