I remember making sloppy joes a lot when I first had my son. You know how you can get into a rut with making the same dishes every month? Well I made sloppy joes several times a week. I don’t know what was wrong with me. My poor husband never complained.

I never really like sloppy joes as a kid but now there is just something comforting about them. Not to mention, it’s a homemade meal in a flash, cheap, and my toddler loves them.
I really love this recipe for sloppy joes because that BBQ sauce and liquid smoke adds a slightly different flavor to them. They can be seasoned to your liking very easily.

Notes

Optional- If you have the time, add in 1/2 diced green bell pepper, 1-2 minced cloves of garlic and 1 diced celery stick in with the meat and onions. I REALLY like it this way.
CHOOSE GOOD BREAD!!
I don't care how good a sloppy joe mixture is, if it's served on crappy bread then it sucks!!! Use good bakery bread. Potato buns work well. Spread on a little butter and toast them lightly. Then spread on some mayo, mustard and ketchup. HEAVEN I tell ya!!!

Serve with baked garlic fries, a green salad and a cold ice tea to wash it down!
