Baked Parmesan Tilapia
I’ve probably said this before but tilapia is my families favorite fish. It’s light, easy to prepare, mild flavored and doesn’t stink up my house when I cook it. Â Oh and Isaac likes it too which is a plus in my book.
I’m always looking for different ways to prepare and flavor tilapia and this baked parmesan tilapia is a winner. Â The fish is seasoned up to perfection with plain ol seasoning salt and Old Bay blackened seasoning. Bake it for a few minutes and then top with a yummy cheesy, seasoned breadcrumb mixture. All of this is then broiled to form a crisp, golden crust on top of the fish.
Sounds easy right? Well it is! Â And folks will probably think it’s a complicated dish to make when they taste it. You don’t have to tell them how you whipped that thang up in a matter of minutes.
Add it to your dinner rotation! I’ve tried it several ways; I’ve used crushed seasoned croutons instead of panko, ranch dressing instead of mayo, and changed the spices a bit to get different flavors. So have fun with if you’d like, but I always come back to this tried and true recipe. It’s a classic and always come out tasting great.

Ingredients
- 4 tilapia fillets, thawed
- Old Bay with Blackened Seasoning
- Seasoning salt, I used Lawry's
- 4 Tablespoons Mayonnaise, I used Duke's
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, shredded (I used a parmesan-romano-asiago mixture)
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1-2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon basil
- 1/2 tablespoon green onion flakes, can use regular onion flakes
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350
- Place fillets on a baking sheet lined with foil paper and sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.
- Season top of fillets generously with old bay and seasoning salt.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile mix the remaining ingredients in a medium-size bowl.
- When fish comes out of the oven switch the oven to a LOW BROIL.
- Top the fish with a layer of the breadcrumb mixture, pressing it gently into the fish to keep it in place. (I always have a bit of the mixture left over)
- Broil for 3-5 minutes or until the topping is golden.
- Garnish with parsley.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
Watch the broil carefully. Some ovens broil run really hot!
Garnish with fresh parsley to add a pop of color.

This looks like it will be really good.I am going to try it tonight.Can you make some seasoned rice brown or white.I eat alot of fish and me and boyfriend eat rice with our fish meals.I havent found a receipe that I trust.
