Easy Man-Pleasing Meatloaf

I call this meatloaf man-pleasing meatloaf because my hubby and son loves it. I have several meatloaf recipes that I keep in rotation ( like  this easy turkey meatloaf) but this one definitely gets made the most  when we’re in the mood for beef.

This easy meatloaf recipe is so juicy, yet firm and full of flavor. Even folks who aren’t meatloaf fans tend to devour this one. It can even be garnished up to serve to company if you’re needing something easy and delicious to whip up.

The BBQ sauce glaze really adds a nice lil tang to the top. I usually serve this meatloaf with roasted veggies, cheesy scalloped potatoes and yeast rolls. It’s one of those hearty, filling meals that makes you just wanna sit back and stare at your plate when your done. Completely satisfied with what just happened.

  • 1-2 teaspoons seasoning salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon dry mustard
  • ½ teaspoon marjoram or oregano
  • ½ teaspoon of thyme
  • 3-4 tablespoons fresh parsley ( I used dried, but fresh tastes better in this)
  • ¼ cup BBQ sauce ( I used Sweet Baby Rays)
  • ¼ cup chili sauce
  • 1-2 Tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 3 slices wheat bread, toasted, crumbled
  • GLAZE
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup chili sauce
  • 1 cup Chargrill BBQ Sauce
Instructions

  2. Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add onions and cook until almost tender.
  4. Add garlic and cook for 1 minutes.
  5. Pour onions, garlic and butter into a large bowl.
  6. Let cool.
  7. Add remaining ingredients to the bowl, (except for the glaze ingredients)
  8. Use your hands to mix together.
  9. Fry up a small portion of the meat as a “test patty” to make sure the seasonings are good.
  10. Place the meat mixture into a loaf pan.
  11. Mix together glaze ingredients.
  12. Spread half of the glaze mixture on the meatloaf.
  13. Bake for 30 minutes.
  14. Remove from oven and spread on the rest of the glaze.
  15. Bake for another 30 minutes or until the meatloaf is ready.
  16. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
  17. Enjoy!
Notes
~TIPS~ Feel free to add in bell peppers, celery, herbs and even cheese (Isaac loves when I make cheeseburger meatloaf) Be careful not to overcook. Check it after 45 minutes just to be on the safe side. Use a good quality lean ground beef.

  2. what kind of chili sauce do you use?

I love the tang of the glaze!,I served it with potatoes(sliced&put them on the side of the meatloaf while it was in the oven!)&macaroni, sooooo tasty, thanks so much Monique for not being selfish with these lovely recipes, please keep em coming!!:)

  7. I loved this recipe. I made it for my husband and he asked for seconds! It is the best meatloaf recipe I have found so far. Thanks for sharing with us! :)

  8. Every recipe I have tried of yours has never been a disappointment, and this one is no exception! This meatloaf was the best…absolutely loved it! Everyone cleaned their plate, it was flavorful and filling enough to feed hefty eaters in my house. Thanks for making cooking fun and rewarding again!

  9. Delicious! Considering the fact that I can’t cook the recipe was simple to follow and I was surprised at how well it came out.

  10. way to sweet.try again

  11. I have made this recipe several times and my family has enjoyed it every time. My little one will actually request it if it hasn’t made a dinnertime appearance for a while. That’s saying something because I was once asked not to make any more meatloaf for a while. Now, there is a disappointing “ah man” when there isn’t any left. Great recipe. My only minus is mine is rarely done in an hour, but that’s not a deal breaker.

  12. Ms Monique,
Your vids are perfect and yummy but can you please avoid using parasite words that much?
I counted during this small video:
    all right – 7 times
    go ahead – 7 more
    ok – 4 times
just like that – 3 times
on the whole you made it into 3,5 min!

    • divas can cook

I’m glad you are enjoying the videos. Did you seriously count my words? LOL Sorry hun but that’s my style. I have very little time to try to catch the number of “parasite” words I say. During a voiceover I just let it flooooow.

      • I’ve been a super fan for about 2 years now and I am not big on commenting but I can’t believe someone word counted. LOL I love your style, it feels like grandma is in the kitchen holding my hand, walking me through! Don’t change sweetheart keep doing you

  13. This recipe should be called “Family Pleasing Meatloaf”! I have 2 teenage girls who dislike Meatloaf very much. When I made this recipe, they liked it. Thank you for turning their tastebuds around for Meatloaf. Well… this Meatloaf!

  14. Can’t wait to try this recipe tonight. I have tried the Mac & Cheese and it was the Best! Monique, you really have people thinking I can cook :)

  15. I made this meatloaf tonight along with the southern mac n cheese and roasted asparagus. It was delish! I have to agree with Madison….it was a little on the wet side but I just put mine back in the oven a little longer and it ended up juicy and delicious! I asked my bf if he liked my original recipe or this one better and of course, this one beat me hands down! No one had leftovers on their plates! There’s only 2 pieces left in the pan. I said job well done !!!! :-) :-) :-)

Only negative I would say is I had an awful lot of glaze left over. I didn’t use the whole bowl. Other than that….A+ from me!!

  16. dear Miss diva I had got in a bad car accident I had made man pleasing meatloaf 2 days ago I got home from the hospital I ate some more meatloaf it made me feel a lot better thank you Miss diva

  18. Greetings Ms. Monique,

Just a word to say thank you for giving me that old fashion cooking and taste that I remember from my grandmother.

By the way, this Old Fashion Cooking is for the Modern Day SUPER MAN, too. :)

    Thanks again,
    Harold D.

  19. I made this meatloaf tonight and it was good. I would back off a bit on the BBQ sauce and I substituted the chili sauce with ketchup. The BBQ sauce was too sweet and made the dish a bit on the sweet side. I don’t know why but my meatloaf was a bit on the wet side.
Next time I make this I would back off a bit on the sweet BBQ sauce, use ketchup instead of chili sauce and perhaps less milk.
I would definitely make it again. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe. Please add some crock pot recipes too :)

    Madison

  21. I made this for my family and it was so good!! Thanks Hun!

  22. I made this meatloaf last week for my family. It was the most moist meatloaf that I’ve ever tasted. This is definatelty in the main rotation of meals going forward. Thank you so much from the Graham’s. You should change the name from man pleasing to if you have a pulse pleasing. I thought I’d leave a comment today since I plan on making it later for dinner.

    Best regards,
    Yolanda

  32. Hi,
My 11 year old who wants to be a chef cooked this meatloaf for me for mothers day with some homemade mashed potatoes and it was so good. I asked her to make it again today but she is doing it this time with ground turkey breast. Keep up the good work!

  33. I usually love the recipes on this site but I guess this one didn’t agree with me. the meatloaf never formed into a loaf and I think the milk is to blame. I don’t care for the flavor the barbeque sauce inside the meatloaf, I think I like it just traditional. I definitely don’t like the glaze. I’m just going to stick to making my glaze with ketchup, mustard and brown sugar. No disrespect intended. I’m sure it just depends on taste and this one just wasn’t my cup of tea…

  34. Girl – You are not lying! I have to agree with Cathey… This is delish! Even my picky picky husband and nephew ate it up!

p.s. Pair this with the mac and cheese and I think a single girl could get a proposal!

  35. Wow. So I was totally going to cook ravioli tonight!! but you have me reconsidering lol!!

  36. girlllllllll,..that “easy man pleasing meatloaf was a hit!!….my man never likes meatloaf and loved this one,..he told me to never change the recipe!!..Monique you are better than racheal ray and paula deen combined,..love your recipes!
