This was my first time ever attempting to make a homemade fruit punch made from fresh fruit juices and fresh fruit. And my first attempt to preparing anything with authentic Indian flair.

This recipe comes from a cookbook called My Indian Kitchen: Preparing Delicious Indian Meals Without Fear Or Fuss. It’s a new cookbook that I was sent to review and is currently available in stores. I sat there and read it from cover to cover in one night. I LOVE COOKBOOKS!!! I love all of the rustic photos and unique recipes.

This week I’m making my hubby an authentic Indian dinner using recipes from this book. Somehow he has made up in his mind that he doesn’t like Indian foods. I’m sure I can change that when I serve up this Marsala Encrusted Tilapia, Basmatic Rice and garlic naan.

This punch is so simple but a  little labor intensive. The directions gives it a prep time of 20 minutes, which I found kinda comical since it took me that long to juice all of the fruit. Maybe I’m just a slow juicer.

After prepping the fresh juices and dicing up all the fruit is pretty much combine and stir from that point. This punch is so beautiful! I can see it being served at a nice wedding brunch. I made it as a “fair well to summer” drink.

It’s tart, lightly sweetened and super refreshing and cooling.

My hubby didn’t like this punch too much, he said it was too tart (he’s used to sugared down punches)  but my mother-in-law loved it.  I enjoyed it as well! It’s very fresh tasting and that splash of gingerale made it nice and sparkly. I think next time I’ll use sparkling wine or the lemon lime soda instead though.
